SITZPROBE

Today was the Sitzprobe! If you do not know what a Sitzprobe is, it is when the band and the actors meet for the first time and sing through the show. This is when we hear what the show is going to sound like. Honestly the show sounds so much better with a band, it sounds the way we imagined it to sound maybe even better. After every song I felt extremely giddy because the songs have even more character in them than they had before. Now onto running the show and working our butts off till we open in 2 weeks!
This pic is from us singing My Junk.

The Show is Blocked!

Hello all!

The show is completely blocked! And for those of you who don't know what that means, it means we have figured out all the movement for the scenes and dances and taught it to the actors! In my opinion, blocking is one of the most challenging parts of putting on a show so I am ecstatic that we are done with that stage of the production. The show looks amazing. I will admit, there are scenes where I still cry (because of how well the actors are portraying their emotions) even though I was in the room when they were taken apart line-by-line and discussed. That's saying something right there!

Tonight is our sitzprobe, where the actors will meet the band members for the first time and we will sing through the show with the entire band. Needless to say, it's going to be a great tonight. Then tomorrow we will review what we've done, run Act 2 memorized and try to work out any kinks we find. Next week we start our full runs, where we run the entirety of the show in one rehearsal so that the cast and crew and really get a feel for what the show is going to be like as far as timing and whatnot.

Check out the awesome promo video that we shot while we were doing our publicity photos! Many many thanks to DNA Imagery for putting it together for us!

Welcome to Our Show!

Welcome to the world of "Spring Awakening" Out of the Box Theatre Co. style! We are currently in week 4 of rehearsals and are being incredibly productive. Our first two weeks were spent reading through the script (and making sure everyone understands what's being said) and learning all the music to the show. On  more than one occasion I had chills listening to the beautiful voices of the cast. Last week we started the oh-so-fun task of blocking and choreographing (with our wonderful director Samantha Eve and brilliant choreographer Jessica Hambright!). Again, chills as I watched the scenes and dances. Tonight we will finish blocking the first half of the show (isn't it amazing how quickly time flies...?)!

This cast and crew is amazing. Theatre has a way of bringing together such interesting mixes of people who end up working together to create beautiful things. It's always such an awesome experience to be a part of a show; getting to see it be turned into a story from just words and musical notes on paper. Meeting people you probably wouldn't have ever met, and becoming friends with them, and overtime truly becoming a family. We may fight and have disagreements but I have yet to be part of a show where I didn't feel a sense of family with my fellow cast and crew.

And listed below is the cast and crew, in case you aren't familiar with it yet!
